The Trager® Approach is a form of movement education that addresses the whole person — body, mind, and spirit — by utilizing gentle touch and simple rhythmic movement to help the client achieve relaxation and relief from tension, stress and pain. The goal of Trager® is to replace old habits of "holding on" with new ways of "letting go" that lead to lighter, freer, easier movement in everyday activities. Following a Trager® session, clients report various sensations, such as: relaxation, floating, being taller, feeling more space in their bodies, increased groundedness, deeper breathing, more energy, a clearer mind, and elevated mood. These sensations can be recalled at a later time so that the client is able to return to the relaxed, pleasant feeling state experienced during the Trager® session.
The technique is especially beneficial for lymphatic conditions, swelling of joints and muscles, edema, wound healing, and deep relaxation.
