There is much overlap between the process of creativity and spirituality. For centuries, engaging in creative acts such as painting, drawing, or simply making something out of raw materials in a novel way, has been revered as a healing and meditative act that allows one to drop into a state of ‘flow’ and mindful awareness. Creating art has the potential to allow a person to bypass the defenses of the thinking mind and connect with the intuitive knowing of the Spirit.
Evolving from the context of the Expressive therapies and Art Therapy, a Therapeutic Art session will provide the opportunity for you to connect with your innate creativity in a neutral and non-judgmental space. Sessions allow for the exploration of art materials and also cater the process towards your individual desires and intentions.
Some examples of art materials utilized in a Therapeutic Art session may include Air dry clay, markers, oil and chalk pastels, collage images, colored pencils, and other sculptural materials. Materials and art processes are carefully chosen in a collaborative partnership between the client and the Art Therapist. All art materials are provided and no previous art experience is necessary. Once completed, you will take your artwork home with you.
