The Trager Approach is a form of movement education that addresses the whole person — body, mind, and spirit — by utilizing gentle touch and simple rhythmic movement to help the client achieve relaxation and relief from tension, stress and pain. The goal of Trager is to replace old habits of "holding on" with new ways of "letting go" that lead to lighter, freer, easier movement in everyday activities. Following a Trager session, clients report various sensations, such as: relaxation, floating, being taller, feeling more space in their bodies, increased groundedness, deeper breathing, more energy, a clearer mind, and elevated mood. These sensations can be recalled at a later time so that the client is able to return to the relaxed, pleasant feeling state experienced during the Trager session.
