His clay monoprints are created using a technique created by nationally known artist, Mitch Lyons. Steve has had success with several juried shows and his work is available at several local galleries in Cleveland as well as at The Reiki Center. You can also view his work on line at yessy.com and search by his name or ‘clay monoprints’.

Steve is also the author of two books of poetry:  Dancing Bare and The Cold Wick, published by Trafford Publishing (excerpts are available on line at Trafford).  His books are available at any book store including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Borders. Artist's statement: “I am seeking outlets to express my awareness of the experience of life and my search for meaning and value within it. I have found it to be true that life is a journey where we meet ourselves along the way. Every moment of life is filled with risk, but  I am slowly learning to smile and greet the next moment with my arms wide open.”

Clay monoprint process: Clay monoprints are unique and colorful one-of-a-kind prints. A flat clay slab is inlayed with clay slip (a semi liquid clay) using various techniques. The color pallet is created by adding various industrial colorants t-white china clay slip. The printing process is achieved by controlling moisture and pressure. The image is printed onto a material called Remay. Which is a man made synthetic material with unique properties which allow colors to bind to it. This creates a color fast, virtually water proof print that will maintain its vibrancy for a life time.  The prints are mono prints because no two can ever be the same due to the 3-dimensional binding of material to the Remay. After drying, an oil based fixative is applied to seal the print.
